Number of hours to meet the requirement for initial training
- Administrators – 8 hours initial training (must be completed before assuming position) + 16 additional hours within first 12 months (24 hours total first year)
- Home Health Aides (HHAs) – 75 hours minimum (federal requirement), including at least 16 hours of supervised clinical training
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAs) – 100 hours (60 hours classroom + 40 hours clinical)
- Home Care Attendants / Personal Assistance Service Workers / Direct Care Workers – at the discretion of the agency administrator
Number of hours to meet the requirement for annual continuing education
- Administrators – 12 hours annually after completing initial 24-hour requirement
- Home Health Aides (HHAs) – 12 hours annually
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNAs) – 24 hours every two years (12 hours per year equivalent)
- Home Care Attendants / Personal Assistance Service Workers / Direct Care Workers – at the discretion of the agency administrator
Caregivers can get the following training through Caredemy
